Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities with the West Bonner County School District. Our District processes substitute applications all year. The State of Idaho does not require an education credential to be eligible to substitute in Idaho.
How Do I Become a Substitute?
To become a substitute in our District, you will need to complete the following steps:
- Complete the online substitute application (found under online jobs application on the Human Resources tab).
- Complete two (2) professional reference forms
- Fingerprint cards*
- Submit a copy of your teacher certificate and transcripts if you are a certified teacher
- Resume is optional
*You will need to complete your fingerprint card at the District Office. All substitutes are required by Idaho State Law to be fingerprinted. Please know that cards processed at any other location will not be accepted by the WBCSD. The background check processing fee is $40; which must be paid when the fingerprint card is mailed to the State Department of Education. The $40 must be made payable to SDE in the form of a check or money order.
You will need to bring a valid driver's license to the District Office when we process your fingerprint card. Your identification will be run through our sex offender registry and checked against the Idaho Repository.
After fingerprints clear and references are checked, a substitute orientation will be scheduled with you. And, at this time you will fill out required employment documents.
Hiring of substitutes is contingent upon board approval.
Note: During summer months of June through August, please call to make an appointment for processing your fingerprint cards.
